Today is my blogiversary, marking one year since I started daniellelevandoski.com! While I still have a LONG way to go, I wanted to share some tips/tricks I have discovered from my first year as well as my #1 regret.
I started daniellelevandoski.com because I’ve always loved writing and my two favorite things are fashion & travel. (Fun fact: I actually wanted to go to college for fashion merchandising.) I spend 90% of my free time either looking at clothes or planning future trips. Finding a good deal on something is the best feeling EVER for me! Also, I read travel guides FOR FUN, because I love learning about new places to travel and this is actually how I get ideas for ALL our trips.
My goal in creating this blog was to share my love for all things fashion & travel with you guys & hopefully provide you with helpful resources!
My biggest tips for anyone wanting to start a blog:
- DO IT! – This is the biggest hurdle in my opinion when you want to start a blog. I worried so much about what people would think, that for the longest time I put off starting my own. BUT as my #1 girl Taylor Swift would say, “haters gonna hate,” and you just gotta block them out and not care what other people think.
- Post A LOT – Posting everyday is definitely a struggle but I find I get much more engagement on my posts when I post consistently. I typically post 6-7 times a week and normally shoot all my looks on the weekends so during the week I have content to use. Also, find a posting time that works best for you. I myself am still trying to figure out what works best for my followers. Sometimes its between 9am-11am and other days its between 6pm-8pm.
- Engage with your followers & other bloggers – This one is super important to grow your following! Find similar bloggers that you love, and like/comment on their posts. They are more likely to return the favor if you’re showing them some love! Make sure to do the same for anyone who likes/comments on your posts!
- Have a consistent feed – Getting your Instagram feed to have a consistent look helps make you look more “official.” You can do this by using presets on all of your pictures to create that certain look. A lot of bloggers sell presets of their own or you can purchase ones from Etsy.
NOW, my biggest regret when it comes to blogging is…. NOT STARTING SOONER! This goes back to my first tip of “just do it.” Like I said earlier, blocking out the haters and just doing something because you love it is the biggest hurdle and something I wish I had done sooner.
I hope this helps any of you who might be thinking of starting a blog or simply starting a passion you have! Cheers to many more years of blogging!
