We just got back from a weekend trip to Nashville and we had so much fun just exploring the city. I’m going to give a full recap of everywhere we went/ate/shopped etc. This was my second time in Nashville and I was excited to show Walt around as he had never been!
Luggage Storage
We arrived in Nashville around 7:20am, but couldn’t check-in to our Airbnb until 3pm, so we knew we needed to do something with our luggage for the day. We made a reservation with a company called Stow Station, on their website the day before. It costs $9 for a small bag (backpack or purse) or $18 for a regular bag (any type of luggage) for the whole day. You simply tell them what time you’ll be dropping off and picking up and they meet you at the location – 171 1st Street. It’s actually a van/truck that they store your luggage in. The workers were super nice and we felt comfortable leaving our bags there. We actually used them on our last day as well.
Food
Biscuit Love – Located in The Gulch. Our first stop was to get something to eat and the line at Biscuit Love wasn’t incredibly long so we decided to get breakfast there. If you haven’t heard of them, they are famous for their ‘Bonuts’ which are doughnuts made out of biscuit dough (& incredibly yummy!) They top them with lemon mascarpone and blueberries! I got The Lilly, which was basically a Bonut in french toast form and Walt got The Princess which is a hot chicken sandwich served on a biscuit.
Pancho & Leftys – We ate dinner here as this restaurant is located just off broadway and serves Mexican food. Walt and I both got the hot chicken tacos and they were definitely hot! I had to keep eating chips and queso in-between each bite to cool my mouth off! Walt got a spicy margarita which he said wasn’t spicy at all but still good.
Frothy Monkey – I had heard of this restaurant from multiple bloggers so we decided to check it out for breakfast on Saturday. They have multiple locations but we went to the one located in 12 South. There was a little bit of a line but so worth waiting for! You MUST get the Monkey Mocha. I wasn’t sure how banana was going to taste in a coffee but after tasting Walt’s I was amazed! It was delicious and I was seriously regretting my boring cappuccino selection. I got the grilled cheese which had avocado, cheese, fried egg and a pesto mayo. It was very messy but so good. Walt got the Foster which was roast beef, onions, peppers, gouda cheese served on a baguette. A little too much for breakfast if you ask me, but he enjoyed it.
Five Daughters Bakery – I had also heard of this place from reading blogger recommendations and being a donut LOVER I knew we couldn’t miss this place. They are known for their 100 layer donuts. Choosing which flavors to get was almost impossible because they all sounded amazing – but after just eating breakfast we couldn’t get every flavor…. so we settled on the Cowboy Cookie (cold brew glaze, pretzels and chocolate) & the Lemon Poppyseed (lemon icing, poppyseed, and a sour sugar coating). They were both delicious (as you can tell by us forgetting to take a pic before taking a bite)!
Whiskey Kitchen – Located in The Gulch, we had dinner here Saturday night. Tip: make a reservation or be prepared to wait! We did not have a reservation and it was going to be almost a two hour wait. Luckily we were able to find a spot on the patio which is seat yourself. We ordered the jalapeno pickles as an appetizer and had no idea that half of them were fried jalapeno and half pickles! Boy was I surprised when I got a jalapeno! I had the Buffalo Chicken Wrap and Walt split the Tennessee Cuban and the Low Country Pulled Pork Sandwich.
The Sun Diner – This diner is located right off broadway across from FGL House. After dropping our bags off Sunday morning we wanted somewhere close to eat. This place is open 24/7 and serves breakfast all day. The seating in here is a little different as they have three U shaped tables with seating all around and two booths in the back. There’s no host, it’s seat yourself and the line can get pretty long! Being honest, it’s a little awkward as you’re basically watching everyone eating, trying to see who’s going to be finished first and scouting out the next available seats. Luckily we didn’t have to wait too long, and we were actually able to get one of the booths. I got the Breakfast Tacos, which were delicious. Be sure to put the green sauce on them! Walt got the Chicken N’ Waffles, which he said were just basic.
Airbnb
Hotels in Nashville can get quite expensive, so we were lucky to find an affordable Airbnb in a great location – walking distance to broadway! The Airbnb was called Boho, Chic & Cozy – Downtown Nashville. It had one bedroom, one bathroom and a sleeper sofa. The decor was super cute and it has all the same amenities as a hotel – pool, gym, courtyard etc. The building was fob access only after 6pm, making it very secure.
Shopping
Uncommon James – This is Kristin Cavallari’s store selling jewelry, home goods & children’s clothes. It’s located in The Gulch. Everything in her store was super cute and I had a hard time deciding on just one piece of jewelry. In the end I bought a necklace called “The Gulch.” They have a cute wings mural in the store, so be sure to get a pic! I was obviously hoping Kristin would be there but bummer she was in Mexico…
Kittenish – This is Jessie James Decker’s store selling women’s clothes & accessories. It’s also located in The Gulch. They had some super cute pieces and have a fun mural inside the store for pics.
Draper James – Reese Witherspoon’s store located in the 12 South neighborhood. All of her stuff is so cute PLUS, if you go into Draper James they give you the cutest little cup of sweet tea and it’s delicious! There’s also a mural associated with this store that I’ll mention below.
Two Old Hippies – This store has been featured in the show “Nashville,” and sells a mix of clothing, accessories, home goods and a bunch of other stuff. It’s located in The Gulch neighborhood.
Bars
There are SO MANY bars in Nashville, most of them located on Broadway. You’ll find the bars can be packed no matter the time of day. Every bar is multi-level (be prepared for a lot of steps) and each floor features different music. They have live music, open-mics & DJ’s. Some of the bars we visited were Luke’s 32 Bridge, FGL House, Tootsies, Tin Roof, Dierks Bentley’s Whiskey Row, Jason Aldean’s Kitchen & Rooftop Bar, Crazytown, & ACME. Nashville has become the hot spot for bachelorette parties recently, so you will see A LOT of big groups celebrating the bride!
Murals
Nashville is known for its various murals around the city, that have become insta-famous. A quick google search will provide you with all the most popular murals and their locations. Taylor Swift actually had a mural painted about her new music, but sadly it was taken down the weekend before we were there. Below are just a few that we visited.
What Lifts You Wings – 302 11th Ave S, Nashville, TN 37203. This is one of the most famous murals and is located in The Gulch neighborhood. TIP: Get there early or be prepared to stand in line for a picture in front of the wings.
Draper James Stripes – 2608 12th Ave S, Nashville, TN 37204. Located in the 12 South neighborhood and is right outside the Draper James store. The blue and white striped wall makes such a pretty background for photos.
I Heart Donuts – 1110 Caruthers Ave, Nashville, TN 37204. This mural is located on the wall of Five Daughters Bakery. Grab one of their famous 100 layer donuts and be sure to get a pic in front of this!
Nashville is absolutely one of my favorite places and I would go back anytime! There’s so much to see, do and EAT! I feel like I could go back 100 more times and still not eat at all the good places. Can’t wait to go back again!
