So excited to share our new favorite room in the house, Atticus’s nursery! I had a pretty strong vision of how I wanted this room to look and I’m pretty proud of how we made it happen! I’m sharing all the details and items we used below!
Details:
- Wall Stencil: Sharing more on this below! The stencil is from Etsy but it didn’t work for us painting over it – we ended up using it to trace the design. If you have no budget, this wallpaper is the same pattern.
- Wall Paint Color: Sherwin Williams White Dove (the home depot version). Did you know you can have any home improvement store such as Home Depot or Lowes recreate a color even if they don’t sell it!? We simply asked for SW white dove and they knew the color combinations to use to match!
- Crib – Hudson Crib from Babyletto
- Name Sign – I knew I wanted some type of name sign above the crib and I loved the natural wood accent! We got this wooden sign from Etsy, we went with the 36” natural stain in the daffodil and magnolia fonts.
- Glider – Madison Swivel Glider from Babyletto. This glider is perfect if you’re looking for something smaller and not too bulky.
- Crib Mattress – This one was important to me because I wanted to ensure he would be able to breathe even if he rolled over in the middle of the night, so we went with the Newton Mattress. It’s 100% breathable and 100% washable!
- Crib Sheet – Since the mattress is breathable we actually won’t be using a sheet when he’s sleeping in there so I simply ordered a black crib sheet from Amazon for these pictures.
Details:
- Dresser – Ikea Hemnes Dresser. We actually have the same exact dresser in our room. I love that it has smaller drawers at the top, perfect for organizing bibs, socks, diapers etc. The dresser comes with black knobs but we switched them out with wood ones from Home Depot.
- Changing Pad – Keekaroo Changing Pad. I love that this one doesn’t require a cover and you can just wipe it clean.
- Mirror – Metal Hexagon Mirror from Target.
- Wood Shelves – Walt actually made these shelves using brackets from Ikea and painting them black. The shelf was made out of wood from Home Depot.
- Knit Doll – These knit dolls are the cutest from Cuddle & Kind. This one is Hudson the polar bear. Plus one doll = 10 meals for children!
- Random Decor – The rest of the decor is from Hobby Lobby, Michaels, and TJ MAXX.
Details:
- Bookshelves – I had originally seen these shelves on Etsy and Walt said he could probably make them for cheaper so we ended up doing them ourselves! I love how they turned out and saved us money!
- Books – These were all books received at our baby shower. We asked for books instead of cards!
How We Did the Accent Wall
This herringbone pattern was the first thing I fell in love with when looking for nursery inspiration. If you’re new here, I kind of have an obsession with black and white in the house so it’s no surprise I loved the idea of a black and white nursery with wood accents. Originally I had found the herringbone pattern as a wallpaper but once we priced it out, it was way too expensive. I ended up buying a stencil off Etsy, but the paint kept bleeding through so we ended up hand tracing each line and then taping and painting them. It took forever, but I’m obsessed with how it turned out and people always think it’s actually wallpaper! I’ve already told Walt if we move, he has to recreate it in the new house!
The Closet
Walt also built up the closet in the nursery so we would have more shelving for everything. We used a Billy Bookcase from Ikea for the shelves on the left. The rest of the pieces came from Home Depot in the closet section. It was fairly easy & cheap! Now I want every closet to look like this!
